Turkey Prep Part 2 of 3 - Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving To You and Yours!!

Just wanted to follow up on my last "Cooking Corner Post" and give you an update on what I did this morning with the turkey! It's been in the oven, so I'm taking the time to catch up on a few other things :)

Step 1: Take the turkey out of the brine and rub on extra seasoning - today I used a little cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper in water and oil.

Step 2: Stick the turkey in a large (it has to say turkey sized) oven bag and place it on a large baking pan

Step 3: I'm not a fan of traditional stuffing, so I usually go with lots of vegetables. Today I used about 5 red potatoes, a bag of celery (about 10 stalks), a bag of carrots (about 8-10), and 2 red onions. Dice everything and stuff the cavity and surround the turkey with it. I usually also lift the turkey a bit so that most of the vegetables end up under the turkey and catch the broth as it cooks

Step 4: Close the oven bag and pop it in the oven at 325 degrees! You probably need a minimum of 3 hours, but the exact time depends on the size of the turkey :)

I'll do my best to show you a shot of the finished product before the day is out!
