It's plum season! Go get your plums! These are one of my favorite fruits, and they're in season now, so there's lots of varieties available including fun fusions like pluots (plum-apricots!) I've been on this newfound health journey for about two months now, and I've been seeing the importance of finding foods to substitute bad foods that you're used to eating.
Plums taste awesome AND they're good for you! Substitute one for a piece of candy or sweet drink! Your body will thank you later!
In case you need a little extra motivation, here's some great facts about plums which I found on nutrition-and-you.com:
- Delicious, fleshy, succulent plums are low in calories and contain no saturated fats; but contain numerous health promoting compounds, minerals and vitamins.
- Fresh plums are an excellent source of vitamin C, which is also a powerful natural antioxidant. Consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps body develop resistance against infectious agents, counter inflammation and scavenge harmful free radicals.
